PROJECT SUMMARY

Google Allo launched in 2016 to positive reviews. The smart group messenger had great features that enable you to do more while chatting, but adoption rates were very, very low. Google asked the Teak Agency to help figure out the best way to show college freshmen the true power of smart group chats.

For incoming freshmen, making the transition to college life is incredibly difficult. But finding groups of friends with shared interests makes this process infinitely easier. So we did exactly that. We brought Allo to Big 10 Universities and met the Class of 2021 on the ground as they started making connections and discovering where they fit in at college.

Google already had an amazing world of cartoon sticker characters in the Allo app. We loved the energy and vibe of the stickers and found that bringing this world to life in our outreach efforts on the college campuses made perfect sense. With the cartoon stickers, we created scenarios that showed how no matter what, groups do it better. From getting friends together for a movie night, meeting for a tailgate party, sharing workout playlists or even sending a GIF of a bull twerking to your study buddy when you’re both cramming for midterms and the fever dream of sleep deprivation kicks in. Whatever the scenario, we showed how Allo has the power to make those group chat moments with friends better.
